Why Did the Quiet Revolution Occur in Quebec?

Into the 1950's, Quebec Premier Maurice Duplessis was able to maintain a religiously and culturally "pure" Quebec, in which the Roman Catholic church predominated.  What specific events caused Quebec to change?

see the link. It was not so much an anti-religion as an assertion of the majority over the english minority that held business, management positions. The old government was getting too corrupt.
