What is the difference between global and rolling shutter?

    You should have posted this in a section relating to photography rather than Words & Wordplay.  But anyway, rolling shutter works by reading the imaging sensor from top to bottom, line by line with each line being a different instant in time, to build up the image, while global shutter reads all the data collected from the entire sensor at the same instant in time.  Rolling shutter can result in skewed images and video if the camera is moving or panning fast enough through the building of the image, or if the subject is moving it can look smeared across the background (different from motion blur).
