Yes, I knew somebody who killed himself. I don't know the reason.

No however my family does. He was an in-law in my family. A long time back, he got away from the nearby mental emergency clinic and suffocated himself following (hopped into the stream close to the emergency clinic when he didn't have the foggiest idea how to swim). The mental clinics weren't extremely decent in those days. Clearly he did it since he was intellectually sick. This was years back before they had psych prescriptions that really made a difference. This is the reason it's essential to give individuals mental prescriptions. The medications help now.

My cousin hung himself a few years ago, he had bipolar.

Yes.    

My sister.   Her cat died and it was her best friend.  In her note she said she did not want to go on living on her own.   She hanged herself just over two years ago. 

Sounds crazy but it's true.
