Can you help me with English please?

O, King of Mercy, direct my soul.

What does the word "direct" mean in this case?

Thanks.

It's being used in that prayer in the same sense as in "He directed the movie."  It's synonymous with "steer" or "guide" or "command".

It's only conceptually linked to the other sense of "direct", namely "(via) the shortest path, without delay (to the objective)".  That is the source of the use of "direct" to describe someone's conversation, as a synonym for "frank" or even "abrupt", as in "I was very direct with her".
