If they had cars in the 1700's do you think the Sons of Liberty would have attempted to use car bombs to enforce their political agenda.

The Sons of Liberty used humiliation, fear, intimidation and loss of property; all considered to be extreme forms of civil disobedience.  Murder was never part of their agenda, so the answer to your question is no.
