The best way to deal with him is for the media to ignore him.  Having a severe case of narcissistic personality disorder, he craves media attention.  If he does not receive it, it will put a stop to his antics.  The media needs to realize that freedom of the press includes the freedom not to publish.  Twitter has figured that out, and the rest of the media needs to do the same.
