In a crash test, a 4000 kg truck is travelling at 10 m/s when it crashes into a cement wall. The impact time is 0.06 seconds  ?

    force F = m*V/t = 4,000*10*100/6 = 4,000,000 / 6 =  666,667 N 

  • Force = Mass * Acceleration

    Acceleration = (Vfinal - Vinitial) / (change in time)

    Vfinal = 0 m/s

    Vinitial = 10 m/s

    change in time = 0.06 seconds

    Mass = 4000 kg

    F = 4000 * (0 - 10) / 0.06  Newtons

    F = -40000 / 0.06 Newtons

    F = -4000000 / 6  Newtons

    F = -2000000 / 3 Newtons

    F = -666666.666666.... Newtons

    Force will be positive

    666,666.66666666....

    666667 Newtons
