Of course, wages are based on the number of jobs in relation to the number of workers...supply and demand.  More supply of workers, less demand and therefore lower wages.

Even artificially raising the minimum wage does nothing because then jobs above that demand more, all wages go up and costs rise. This puts everything right back where it was.

And no, these immigrants won't just create businesses that wouldn't be there anyway.  Let's use restaurants as an example.  A given population can only support so many restaurants.  The only additional restaurants that community could support is based on increase in population.  

This is a BS argument used by the oligarchs so they have an endless supply of cheap labor and idiots fall for it.

A good example is the black death.  With the work force significantly diminished, the upper class had no choice to offer higher wages or workers would just find a new job because labor was in short supply, increasing demand.  This led to the rise of the middle class.

The opposite is when there's too many workers and the bosses can say take it or leave it because there's 10 people waiting for your job.
