Why couldn't John just tell us to think positive in the book of revelations?

i do think positive. i am absolutely Positive what John says in Revelation is going to happen.

Because we are told to watch for all prophecies to be fulfilled to help our faith and to help us encourage others.

Actually, JESUS offers a blessing to those that understand:
Revelation 1:3Β Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand.

That is the message, Revelation is an apocalypse it describes current conditions at the time it was written.

Jesus was speaking to John and told him what to write.
Revelation 1:1 β βWrite in a book everything you see, and send it to the seven churches in the cities of Ephesus, Smyrna, Pergamum, Thyatira, Sardis, Philadelphia, and Laodicea.β

John the Little was the Stephen King of the Bible, and it wasn't written for several centuries after other works. I've always taken it as a grain of salt. Many Christians don't give any credence to Revelations.Β
