What are some examples of food that go well with mashed potatoes?

Salmon goes well as does various forms of beef.  Some like to have chicken with them and put a white gravy on top of the potatoes which is supposed to go well with chicken. I like braised beef or broiled brisket with mashed potatoes and a beef gravy on the potatoes.  and peas goes well as a vegetable with any of these.
