Janurary- On average the coldest time of the year in the NH, is the last 2 weeks of Jan, and 1st week of Feburary, before temperatures beging to ascend back up.

typically, the coldest 4 week period is roughly mid-January to mid-February, but the coldest (on average) calendar month in much of the northern hemisphere is January.  Some years have February as the coldest month, but over the longer term, January being coldest is more common.
