re Zaouli dancer's masks (African dance from central Ivory Coast) ?

After buying one of those Zaouli dancers masks from Ebay I read an article saying that women are not supposed to look at them, which leaves me rather worried as I'm a woman and I look at it, but do I really have anything to worry about ?
