Why do they make you get off your bike?
I like to ride my bike a lot. The problem is that when going through intersections with crossing guards in my town, some of the guards will make you get off your bike, walk it across the road and then get back on it. What is wrong with just riding across?

just to make you aware once in a while walking is also good lol.. simply its because crossing riding make you less conscious and there are chances of risk

Because you're in a cross-WALK. People shouldn't ride bikes in pedestrian zones. Ride on the streets (in the traffic lane) where bicycles belong.

I'm assuming for safety reasons, say a car doesn't care and speeds up while you're crossing the streetlight, it would prevent something like that happening.
