What is social depression?

My friend says he has social depression and i don't even know if that's a real thing.

Seems like that would have been a good question to ASK YOUR FRIEND.  When someone says something that I don't understand, I ASK THEM.

I don't think social depression is a thing. Perhaps he meant to say social anxiety, or that could be his way of saying he feels depressed in social situations.
