This depends heavily on the age of the child. If it's a child over the age of ten, they should've known better and it's the child's fault. If the child is under the age of ten, the parents should've known better and it's their fault.
The dog is blameless. Think of how you feel when you're rudely awakened and aren't able to quickly process what's happening around you. The dog may have felt like it was being attacked and immediately defended itself before it realized it was only a child wanting to play. The dog should not be held responsible for this. The child should be taught to respect a sleeping dog.

Whoever was supervising the child is at fault.
The child should have been stopped from approaching the dog while it slept.

The child.
The dog should be allowed to sue the child.

Parents fault. Children shouldn't be allowed to pester and torment dogs.

The child is in the wrong . but its the supervising parents fault. For being negligent enough to allow such a thing to happen.. Ever heard the expression let sleeping dogs lie.... Well in such cases that applies...... Dogs are not childrens toys and unknowledgeable children should be adequately supervised around pets at all times.

Parents fault. They should have been supervising the interactions with the child & the dog. Every time I hear about a child being bitten, I wonder what the child did to trigger the bite. Where were the parents? Why was this allowed to happen? Parents do not understand their dog or their child. Parents are not protecting their child. Haven't the parents heard, let a sleeping dog lay, do not bother a sleeping dog.

The mistake is the parents' for not supervising the dog and child sufficiently.
