(Star Wars) Why Storm Trooper's equipment sucks?

Their armor breaks so easily, their gun is inaccurate, their gun jams a lot. It's like the Empire wants them do die.

Why can none of the Storm Troopers hit the broad side of a barn?

For armors & weapons, that's probably due to mass-producing them to an extreme degree, since the items were needed for hundreds of millions of soldiers across the galaxy. Due to this, the equipments need to be produced in a very short time, with the lowest cost possible, so their resources weren't too impacted by it.

For bad aiming, well... Let's just say that the Empire prefers "Quantity over Quality", where they chose to overwhelm their enemies with sheer number, and not by smaller but more effective method.

The gun's aren't inaccurate.  In ANH, the idea was that the inaccuracy you see from the Stormtroopers was deliberate.  They were trying to let them escape with the Princess because they put a tracker on the Falcon.  But then when the movie was a smash hit, Lucas quickly wrote the longer story.  Suddenly, Stormtroopers were the most disposable of villains and couldn't hit the broad side of a bantha.  It's become a trope of the Star Wars universe.  There's an AMAZING scene in The Mandalorian about it.  It parodies about a half dozen standard Star Wars tropes beautifully.

The armor is a bit more of a mystery.  The problem is that it protects from absolutely NOTHING.  Not only does it fail to protect against blasters, but we see punches, rocks, fire...literally everything kills stormtroopers through it.  It is clearly aesthetic only.  And to be fair, the Stormtroopers are the most distinctive disposable bad guys ever.

The claim seems to be that these are environment suits (hence the ports for air hoses and seeming presence of switches and such), but the only troopers that go into space, the TIE pilots, have their own special suits.  Why give everyone spacesuits?

The armor protects them from shrapnel and it takes a direct hit to do damage (which the armor can turn a death shot to an injury), but the armor is quantity over quality.
