It depends on many factors:  A)Your criminal history B) How much money you have to hire legal counsel.  C) Opponent's criminal history.  Generally: if you have a criminal history, you will lack credibility in court of law.  There is multiplying factors on your credibility if you have criminal history + broke.  In that case; expect to be thrown underneath the jail, and key thrown away.
