The differences are more noticeable outside the I-95 corridor, away from DC.

Virginia is very diverse.  It has some bigger cities in the east, but when you start getting outside of those, especially towards the west, it's an entirely different world which Maryland doesn't know the likes of.

Virginia has a much larger population of Republican voters. Maryland has just gone to shîts but Virginia has a lot of smart people still.

I think so.  Virginia is bigger and has a very interesting history.  Look up both states on google.
