A 10yo WiFi adapter sees 3 times more networks than the 802.11n I have just bought and it's also several times faster?

So which protocol-supporting card is best to get for weak signals and far-situated hubs?

802.11g (Wireless G) antennas can go thru walls more effectively than even Wireless AC can! however, its bandwidth leaves much to be desired, and streaming HD video can prove to be problematic if not impossible.

the bandwidth on AC is HUGE by comparison, and you can always get wifi extenders if you need to double the distance your wifi router reaches. keep in mind, extenders need to be placed halfway between the router and the farthest point it will reach.

for basic internet though, Wireless G is faster. for streaming video, AC is better, especially since it offers both 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands.

Wireless N was experimental and never officially ratified, despite being used everywhere before AC came out.
