I am white but really want to be black. Is that being racist?

Well It depends like if you really don't like how your ancestors did to blacks back in slavery times & all the other mistreatments like persecutions, prejudice, injustice by the police on blacks & racism by whites who are still continuing to put blacks down, if you have a Malcolm X mentality, you against the government & the powers that be, you hate racist white people & the KKK, you down for the cause of helping black people reach their full potential & help them to succeed, you a peace loving person, you care about the poor & you like to make the world a better place & spread positivity everywhere you go, then yes, you can get a pass & not consider you wanna be black racist!

That would depend on how you define racist. Very few people are really racist. To be a racist you must believe that one race is inherently superior to another race. So wishing to be black is silly but unless you believe that blacks are superior to whites or visa versa then racism does not enter into it.

many white people today already want to be black as in enjoying  their music, hair styles, and  culture, yet many of them don't actually want to be black as in physically being the same race as them. 

so if you want to be black as in wanting to appropriate black culture as a white person, than yes that is racist 

but if you simply want to be black because you think being black makes you superior to a white person, than i would say you aren't racist, but you lost your sense  of reality since white supremacy is a real thing that influences society.

my question to you is, why would anyone want to be black since white folks have privileges and advantages in society??

In some Asian countries people go about with umbrellas in the sunshine because they want to lose their tan to get lighter skin. They see pale skin like Westerners have as superior.

Lots of people all over the world want what they can't have. Just accept you are whatever you are.
