In an experiment to determine the chemical formula of a compound, a chemist fins that 3.46 gram sample of the compound is composed of 0.898 grams of nitrogen. If te compound contains only nitrogen and oxygen, what is the empirical formula?

0.898 g of nitrogen, 2.562 g of oxygen.
That's about 0.16 moles of oxygen ATOMS (atomic weight 16),
and about 0.064 moles of nitrogen atoms (atomic weight 14).
Could be N2O5, as 0.160 = 5/2 of 0.064.
