What is that little device in the uniform they used in Chernobyl?

This little thing what is it? I've seen different variations of it in other movies and videos of power plant workers but what actually is it?

A "Dosimeter", a monitoring device to see how much ionising radiation a person has been exposed to, so they can be kept within acceptable limits.

There are many types. That could be a "film dosimeter", but it's difficult to tell from that photo.

Looks like Robert J has the answer. Also look up EMF reader and Geiger counter. OTHER: In the game Fallout, this fictional story uses a PipBoy to detect radiation (RADS).
