Why did Sunak do a budget that papered over the cracks, rather than rebuild the foundations?

Update:

No, I'm honouring him

It was always mosting likely to be a desperate budget plan; the economic climate is sick, as a result of Covid, so we have to take the medication.

Starmer poured out the foreseeable objection, without having to supply information of anything better.

it didnt even paper over the cracks

It was just a budget to keep the UK for the next year .

After that year its just what he hopes will happen with very little chance it will

(the UK has NEVER balanced its budget since the 50s' It has ALWAYS had to borrow in order to keep the UK going

LAST year (2020-2021) it borrowed 5 TIMES what it borrowed the year before (2019-2020). And it looks like 2021-2022 Is gonna be another bumper year for borrowing (and if his optimism after that dont come true 2022-2023 if gonna lead to a lot more borrowing

His budget is designed to prop up the economy until we can get it running again,  rather like giving a tired old engine stops smoke and an oil change to keep it running until we have the money to rebuild it, and that's what we need to do here: rebuild our economy that has been decimated by the Coronovirus pandemic.

What steps do you recommend for rebuilding the foundations? Starmer didn't have any.

It was always going to be a no-win budget; the economy is sick, because of Covid, so we have to take the medication.

Starmer poured out the predictable criticism, without having to supply details of anything  better.

We cannot rebuild anything in lockdown with businesses going bust. It's still a time of waiting.

it appears bumbling chuntering boris has infected the cabinet with the LIAR LIAR PANTS ON FIRE virus

The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) has publicly said mendacious Rishi Sunak has been caught with his sari between his legs and cannot be trusted
