It depends on what your restraining order paperwork says.

Not always. It depends on how bad it is. They might just put out a warrant, and some day you get stopped for a traffic violation and they arrest you on the warrant.

The person against whom you offended would have to call the police and show proof of the order and your violating it.
Then, they would arrest you.
